I was thinking –
In this world, as we literally live out these times of isolation, have we grown to accept it as normal, like a frog in hot water?
I was thinking about the depths of what that means, what is really happening? Have we been slowly numbed in to closing our hearts, closed to the very nutrients of our soul?
I recently learned something about the agave plant. We know it has gifted us with its sweet honey-like substance, but it is actually a succulent that loves hot, dry climates. Yet, water is essential to its survival. It cannot afford to miss out on a drop when rain does finally fall and quench, therefore, its long leaves spread wide and remain open so that it never misses out on a drop of precious water.
Its willingness to remain open, no matter the existing landscape, is the only reason we benefit from its sweetness and healing properties.
What if, in the same way, we committed to staying open? Open to receive whatever vital drops of nourishment comes to us? What if our hearts remained constantly open, to a niggle urging us to notice something beautiful, or something that would impart simple joy or insight?
What if… Would we be bathed in brighter light, have more moments of seeing truth? Ultimately, as we’ve been more inclined to close up in the midst of so much uncertainty, are we missing out on those drops of love from those around you, drops of love from above?
I have come to realize that my sense of knowing, my since of being brave and desire to dream has wained in the midst of being surrounded by pain unkindness, uncertainty and overwhelm.
I am choosing to remain open to nurture the sweetness in my being, open to empathy when there is so much judgement, open to all the nutrients constantly available to quench my soul and sweeten my life.
Stretch out wide open, ready to receive.
I want to offer you, like little rain drops intended to be a touch of sweetness to your moment, your day, something I’ve created to be just that.
I call them coaching-in-a-moment cards. A beautiful card deck that you can carry with you, keep them in your peaceful place.
They can be a great tool to remind you any moment of any day or night to remain open for all that is yours!
Remaining Open,
Beautiful, Ruthie. Thank you for sharing the gentle reminder to open our hearts.
Thank you so much for commenting, Cindy!! Nature teaches so much! xoxoxo
