Born, we are free, yet we live lives that don’t resemble freedom. Each waking moment, we submit our power to others, giving away the highest connection to our own intuitive guidance. When will we return to the true knowingness of who we are?                                                                                                                              Bridget Aileen Sicsko

Listening is a skill.  But that doesn’t mean ears are the only way to hear.  Your ears don’t hone a skill, their connection to the brain fires up the nerves in the ear that enable it to do what it was created for, it’s purpose, to perceive sounds.

The skill of listening is a very vital key to communication and relationships, but what if even that skill is not performing to it’s full potential because there are kinks in the connection that are broken?

The 24/7 noise of rush, TV, media, compromising music can be eardrum breaking.

What about the ears of your soul?

Did you ever wonder why animals have such a keen sense of hearing?  There are many reasons, but could it be because animals are more tuned in and connected to their entire being, that they don’t seem to compartmentalize their mind from their body or from their spiritual senses?

Regardless, it’s been proven in so many ways that well-being, our fulfillment, or quality if you will, of life is directly related to the connection between our mind, body and soul.

The mind is that part of us that organizes thoughts and feelings, captures our beliefs and memories.  It signals a particular needed action, recognizes danger, notices beauty or ugliness.  It’s how we follow or project the meaning or outcome of a conversation, reading material or even a movie.  The mind is also how we come to conclusions and the way we hear and use words, as well as perceive something or someone, whether correct or not.

The mind is so amazing!  It has immeasurable intellectual abilities.  It’s largely how we live and can be somewhat dictatorial when disconnected and random.  And when disconnected or short-circuited, thoughts are flying, and more than likely will not recognize bodily pain, exhaustion or other physical signals because it is focused on habitual thinking patterns, disturbing problem, feeling or task.  The focus is imbalanced so the result could be a situation or physical problem that is ignored and left to fester.  And thus the problem, the mind has failed us.

The body is of course that visible, physical manifestation of your mind and soul.  The compilation of cells, brain, blood, organs, bones and much more, but aside from medical school, you get the point.  Our bodies have power of strength beyond anything we could possibly understand, as well as miracle healing abilities that can’t be explained.

And again, here’s the rub.

Without our body’s connection to the brain, we would not speak, see or move our muscles.  It can be why some people have difficulty in those areas and also why some have greater athletic talent.  In other words, our bodily senses can be dulled.  We have phenomenal power to sense something wrong in our body, but most will ignore the sensory signal because of a weak connection.

Without that awareness, it’s also the reason we tend to take for granted the use and health of our bodies.  Hint – eating crap, mostly because we don’t understand that healthy food and bodily movement is what nourishes that connection to the brain.

The soul is most often described as that spiritual part of us, which is actually the sum of who we are – our personality, our ways in which we interact with other souls, and mostly our experience of and with the spiritual, as well as the value we put on ourselves and others.  The soul is where we feel happy and sad – emotions.  It’s where we feel empty or full, motivated or depressed, our passion.  It holds the capacity for compassion and empathy.  The soul is our strength of character, a sense of right or wrong. Again, thus the problem.

Even though it is our bodies that actually die, our souls can feel dead.  Our bodies are breathing but there is no inner life.  I’ve talked to many depressed people, and let me assure you it is sadly rampant, and many times unexplainably.  A soul is the part that gets lost in this physical world and mindless confusion.  It definitely takes its toll on the body.  This disconnected soul meant to provide all wholeness is left without meaning and passion, leaving the mind and body to wither.

So, the disconnection of body, mind and soul simply put, is similar to someone who has a brain injury.  The brain is not connecting in the right way to move the leg properly or in a timely fashion, or to the speaking center efficiently enough to form words correctly or as intended.

What if this connection of mind, body and soul was simply about listening and communication.  The mind listens to the soul, undistracted from chaos and tasks, which tells the brain to inform the body.  All communicating in a beautiful rhythm.  Isn’t that what relationships are about?  Yes, however, I find it so ironic that it is largely relationships that cause us to compartmentalize this beautiful connection in order to please others.  We break connection of our own body, mind and spirit in order to become and comply to the expectations of others and cultural mind control.

We’re not “hearing” the whispers that connect the fibers of our whole being.

The relationship between mind body and soul is the most important communication and the greatest and most valuable skill of all.  Your soul is a work of art.  Yet, we are socialized from early on to believe that the art of our soul is being selfish and should be minimized and compromised for the “greater good.”

We need big “ears to hear” the whispers of communication between mind, body, soul and accept its flow as natural as a river that constantly flows through us. This is where we live the joy outside of conflicting messages and confusion.

This is the truth behind what we often term inherently happy people.  It’s why money does not make us happy. Momentary gratification does not equal wholeness of a solid mind, body, soul connection.  The soul is very real but when left fragmented and disconnected, there is no wholeness to communicate well-being.

So, sadly, we’ve spent our lives unconsciously suppressing and silencing all that makes us whole.  The only outcome is resentment.  I did all the right things and this is where I end up?

All the effort to comply is sacrifice of self, all for affection and approval, while all along the wholeness of you living body, mind and soul is what you and this world needed all along.

Within the wholeness of your body, mind and soul is all that life has always intended you to have.  It’s always been there and always will be.

It’s not at all complicated.  Just have “ears” to hear.  It’s about choosing to tune in to the whispers and walking toward the light, away from all that has been and is being programed in us, to live and be the way we were intended.

It takes a little journey and some coaching from someone who’s walked that journey.  This subject is worth a book, that will be written someday, but for now, journeying with you is a first step you will not regret.
